Western country in the north

        Finland is a western democracy and has been independent since 1917. It's located in northern Europe, between Sweden and Russia. DEspite of the location, the climate is milder than in other places at the same northern latitude. To the south and southwest is the Bastic Sea, with its two arms, the Gulf of Finland, and the Gulf of Bothnia.

Safe and Functional

        Finland is safe country to live or invest, thanks to stable social order, low rate of crimes and good relations to east and west. Finland' s economy is modern and developed, basedon free competition on markets.

Competitive

        Findland used to be known as a high cost area, but the changes in economy has lowered costs. Long distance calls within Findlandare the third cheapest in Europe. The changes in currency rates have made Finland competitive and attractive choice for travellers.

Large and clean

        Finland's area is fifth largest in Europe, but it's population is only 5,0 million (1993). Because Finland is sparsely populated area, there is lot of wild and unpolluted nature.Finland contains some of the last wilderness areas in Europe, and even in the cities one is never far from the forest. About 65% of Finland's area is still forest, 10% is lakes and rivers.

Geography

       Finland is situated in northern Europe, between the 60th and 70th parallels of latitude. One quarter of its total area lies north of the Arctic Circle. The neighbouring countries are Sweden to the west, Norway to the North, Russia to the East and Estonia to the South.
